Ministry at Wilmette Lutheran Church
Pastoral Care
Pastors visit with "the poor, the persecuted, the sick, the lonely, the forgotten, and all who suffer." They bring the Word and Sacrament to "all who are in danger (of any kind); that they may be relieved and protected."
These words from the prayers of the Order of Ordination remind us that a significant part of a pastor's call is to bring Jesus' love to those in need. Yes, pastors can very easily fill their days and evenings preparing for worship, preaching and teaching, attending meetings and answering mail, e-mail and phone calls.
Pastors are never too busy to visit with you, and welcome the opportunity to have conversation, prayer and Holy Communion. When the pastor asks if she can come visit, she hopes you will say, "Yes." And if she doesn't recognize that a visit would be helpful, she hopes you will ask, so she can say "Yes."
